In English class we had been studying Fictional Worlds and how to creat them, we had made our own fictional world, etc. There is a video that is really usefull if you want to create a fictional world because it give you some questions that you should ask your self about a Fictional World if you are wondering to create one. When and where is that story happening? Is it a fictional world or a futuristic setting in the real world?
Game of Thrones is a fantasy fictional world but it’s insprired in middel Age to Renaissance bridge. Game of Thrones world have not a name but there are maps where you can perfectly identify the history countries, seas, etc.
What past events shaped the way that world is now?
Well, maybe the ‘crazy king’; Aegar Targaryen dead has marked that fictional world situation, becouse hes dead is what makes everybody make new enemis or people claim the throne and that’s why the war starts.
What rules are in place here?
Rules are crazy in game of thrones compared to Earth rules because justice is not the same, to have an idea, like in middle Age, they kill each other, they can have dragons, there are White Walkers and other fictional species, forest childs, there’s people who can revive; lord of the light followers, seasons can large undefined years, there are some materials like Valyrian fire, or people like the Three eyed Raven, the Red Witch or Faceless Men who can do magical things like seeing into other people or animal eyes even the future and past, give birth to murder shadows or wear on a dead person face as if you are another person.
What kind of government does this world have? Who has power and who doesn’t?
In this world there is a throne in king’s landing that it’s supposed to govern all the seven kingdoms from the world, but in the story lots of houses had denied crown power into them folks or raised or tryed to get the king out of the power. Rich people have power and there is a huge difference between rich people and poor ones, there are lots of misery in towns.
What do people belive in here?
There are different religions; The Old Gods of the Forest, The Faith of the Seven, The Drowned God, The Lord of Light, The Bearded Priests of Norvos, The Black Goat of Qohor, The Many-Faced God of Death, Moonsingers, The Valyrian religion and some more. There is people who does not belive in any god.
What does this society value the most?
The power, they deffinitly value your power, as how much money you have, how good warrior are you, what magician powers do you have? If you have money, powers and you are a good warrior, you are going to be a valued person. I sould ad to that the world is seen by important people form that world so maybe in another perspective this could change.
What’s the weather like in this world?
You have north and south, in the north; Invernalia and The Wall you barely always have cold and snow and in the South; Kings Landing, Dorne, The Reach, etc, they have 20-28 grades.
Where do the inhabitans live and work and go to school?
They work as middle Age people did, you got a job, for example as a merchant, as a knight a seller or other usual works. They live in houses as they did in world, I guess there are homeless too. They doesn’t go to school, kings or very rich people children have particular classes for them to can read and have a good knowledge.
What do they eat? And how do they play? How do they treat their young and their old?
As I said, tey eat as people at Middle Age did, meet fish or vegetables. Children can play as Middle Age children did; hide and seek and that kind of games I guess. They treat their young and their old as Middle Age people did too.
