The book is about a teenager that explains her issues and thinkings with her diary. The author of the book is Louise Rennison, she was born in 1915 and died two years ago at 2016. She had been a comedian and wroted series for teenagers. The first book of the serie ‘Angus, thongs and full frontal snogging’, the one I had read, was made into a film; ‘Angus, thongs and perfect snogging’.
Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging won the Nestlé Smarties Book Prize Bronze Award in 1999, and was named a Printz Honor Book in 2001, was shortlisted for the Branford Boase Award and it also was voted #127 in the BBC’s Big Read poll to find the UK’s favourite book.
The book is Georgia’s diary and she explains her grade in high school, how she has different issues with her friends, family or her ‘crush’ as she calls him ‘Sex God’ which name is Robbie, who is older and unfortunately has as a girlfriend, Lindsay, who is like Georgia and her squad enemy because she tries to ruin her and her friends. Robbie broke up with Lindsay because he sees how evil she can be with Georgia.
Robbie could date now Georgia, but he does not because he is older and he thinks Georgia is little for him. Georgia tries to make him change his mind about that dyeing her brunette hair in blond, but it ends up as a mess. Even that was pathetic Robbie thought that was really cute and attractive, so they end snogging. This seems to be a new opportunity to start some kind of relationship that summer to Georgia but her family and her have to go to New Zealand on holidays.
I really felt so wrong when I started the book, I expected more about that book, because it has amazing reviews. Well, I was waiting for an amazing and peculiar book, and not a typical love story, a mean and popular enemy and teenager problems, that was what I found inside it. Even that I realized that the reviews were just true, they say things like “Hysterically funny”, “We’re talking laugh-till-the-soda-comes-out-your-nose-humor”, so it’s a good book at all, not what I was looking for but really funny and I had laughed a lot with some of its stories. Anyway, it’s a good usual teenager book, but I do not feel iden with most of Georgia problems because we are too different in all senses and maybe some stories made me feel like they were so unreal.
It had been really so difficult to read, it has lots and lots of vocabulary that I did not understand, that made so slow and hard the reading, sometimes boring too.
So I recommend that book for people that have a great level of English and that like teenager stories with hot boys mean enemies and a little bit ‘loser’ protagonists, and of course people that enjoy funny stories.
You can watch the book trailer I have made if after my redaction you still in the query of reading or not or if you are just interested or curious or you are my teacher. I hope you enjoy it!
