We were talking about sweatshops. Sweatshops are the brands and the factories that make them employers work in horible conditions. We had to made a document, talking about that and we had to made a text explainig what are sweatshops and if we agree with this type of work. Here is my text;
Sweatshops are the companies that have workers in horrible conditions, working up to 16 hours a day and eating and sleeping in precarious conditions. The workers are usually children and poor people. They do not have respect from the boss and their salaries are terrible. They work a lot, and the companies buy them the clothes, shoes and all the things they do, to sell them in their shops. Nobody knows about this side of the big worldwide companies. One little part of millions of euros go to this workers. In some countries, they earn 1 euro for one day. I do not know exactly the number but it is horrible anyways. Lots of people do not agree with this kind of slavery and they want to change it. Tell the people who buy that brand how their clothes are made and in what conditions the workers are living and working. We always think that this happens in the poor countries, but it is also near us. If we continue buying this, we are saying to the company and the millions of workers that we do not care about them.
The multinational companies do not care about that, this is the reason why they do it. Nike and G.A.P are one of the problems of this disaster. But if people continue buying our clothes, what is the problem? These companies move their workers to countries that do not have working conditions, do not have a holiday, they earn a miserable salary… They do not spend lots of money paying the workers and they have more production for their brands.
I think that these companies should have their workers in good conditions, working in offices, working with a “normal” salary, with some importance in their work… This slavery has to end now. Nowadays, it is not normal to have people in the world working like this… We have to change it. Trying not to buy those brands and reducing the clothes industry.
