This book was published in 1813, almost on the Victorian era. It was writed in an era what women was just a jewel that mens take with them to balls and parties to show off of them. That was an era where get marriage was not always by love but how richers were the families. The book starts with this sentence — everyone knows that a rich, unmarried man needs a pretty wife. —. Of course, that age when Jane Austen was writing was a very male chauvinist era.

Jane Austen always shows in her books the British high society. Like Agatha Christie. In that era when Austen has written these books was a very beautiful period full of music, paints and also sculpture. In Pride & Prejudice there is a part where Elizabeth and her parents are visiting Pemberley (Darcy’s home), and they are looking all this art that is in the walls of that castle.

Well, this book is something more than a love novel. May someone of our age can think that this novel has a boring story, but they are absolutely wrong.

That’s how it all began. In Longbourn the notice arrived that a rich man was came soon. The Bennets were not a very rich family, but they were absolutely not poor. Mrs Bennet wanted to marry one of her daughters at all costs. In the novel, Austen talks a lot about differences of the social position or money between families. Mr Bingley was getting in fall in love with Jane while Mr Darcy was also falling in love with Elizabeth. At first, Elizabeth disliked him because he was very proud and so hypocrite but then, trough see them in the gardens of her parents and talked, Elizabeth got in fall in love with him. Jane, in all this, was preoccupied because she thank that Mr Bingley didn’t love her, so she was very sad. Mr Wichkham that was a very good friend of the Bennets daughters, finally got in marriage with Lydia without the permission of her parents. And that supposed a big familiar problem because what people were going to say about them? They cannot show outside that one of their daughters has eloped with Mr Wichkham. The families of each man of these (the Bingleys & the Darcys) cannot accepted that they could fall in love with a young ladies with a lower position in society than them. Between hypocrisy and a lot of pride these richest families were dodging the possibility that they could be married into a family like the Bennets. Finally, of course, Mr Bingley had been in marriage with Jane and Mr Darcy also with Elizabeth.

Firstly, the protagonist daughters are Elizabeth, Jane and also Lydia. Jane is the oldest with twenty-three years old, and she is so pretty and also good-natured. Then there is Elizabeth, or Lizzy, that is the cleverest daughter and she has a very pretty black eyes according to his father. After, there are Lydia, Kitty and Mary that they are the most fooliest sisters. Mr Charles Bingley is the richest man that has arrived to near Longbourn (where the Bennets live) and he is fall in love with Jane. He is about 20 – 30 years old, and he is so generous and also good-natured as Jane. Mr Fitwilliam Darcy is the best friend of Bingley and he is fall in love with Elizabeth. He is tall and he has black hair and he is sometimes very proud, but then he gets more generous. Elizabeth previously has been attracted to: Colonel Fitwilliam, cousin and “guardian” of Mr Darcy and his sister Giorgiana, or Mr Wichkam but then he is get married to her sister Lydia.

This book has changed that classicist form to write the novels to a Renaissance work. Renaissance was an artistic era where people looked more than a cross and the church. The story shows us this manner to write based in the individual liberty. It also shows us the romantic think realizing a contrast between action and think.

My opinion about this book is very good. I have been charmed with the end and with this novel, I have learned a lot of vocabulary. I have learned too how were the manners that people had and which what hypocrisy were treated families between others. I have enjoyed so much this book and I recommend it a lot for everyone. I mean, this book you must read it at least, one time in your life. Since the adolescence you can start reading this book to understanding it. As I said, maybe adolescents can think wrong about this fantastic book. So, If you want to gift to someone something, you can consider that this book would be the best option.

There is a film that I have not watched yet but sure that it could be fantastic, but as the book, will not be.

Pride and Prejudice was written by the British author, Jane Austen.
