I english class, we study the pandora’s mitology and the myth in Avatar (the film). We make some activities comparing with these stories.
The myth:
Pandora was a woman created from clay, his creator was Zeus. The objective of Pandora is to annoy Prometheus and his brother, but they don’t know. Months later, Pandora marries with to the brother Epimetheus, and Prometheus gives them a wedding gift, a box. Prometheus says that the box, should never be opened, but Pandora was corrupted by the intrigue, and she opened the box.
The myth in the film:
In the movie Avatar, Pandora is the world (the moon). But the idea of Avatar, where the humans want to keep the minerals, and are greedy, because they want all them, is similar to the Pandora’s box story.
It has been very entertaining and interesting. One idea we could have done was to watch the movie Avatar.
