Sherlock Holmes Short Stories

In English subject, we had to read a book. I chose Sherlock Holmes Short Stories. Here you can read a summary of the book:

Financial difficulties led to Holmes and Dr. Watson shares a room at 221B Baker in London. Mrs. Hudson lived on. After 23 years of Holmes’ investigation, Watson assisted him for 17 years. Most stories are stories that Watson wrote as a summary of interesting investigative cases. Holmes frequently quoted Watson’s name in the case of the sensational and populist Holmes, suggesting that he did not provide accurate information and had a “scientific” purpose in his work:

Awareness is or should be a real science and should be done indifferently. You try to paint with romance, the effect is as if you had made a love story or an elopement in Euclid’s fifth wish. … some things have to stop, or at least they should be solved with the right attitude. Only the curiosity analysis of cause and effect that I can draw from it is worth mentioning.

Nevertheless, Holmes’s friendship with Watson is his most significant relationship. When Watson is injured by a bullet, although the wound turns out to be “quite superficial”, Watson is moved by Holmes’s reaction:

It was worth a wound; it was worth many wounds; to know the depth of loyalty and love which lay behind that cold mask. The clear, hard eyes were dimmed for a moment, and the firm lips were shaking. For the one and only time I caught a glimpse of a great heart as well as of a great brain. All my years of humble but single-minded service culminated in that moment of revelation.

Before reading this book, i watched movies and series about Sherlock Holmes, and I liked a lot. After, I wanted to read a book and I chose Sherlock Holmes Short Stories to read something about Sherlock. The result didn’t be the same, I didn’t like so much the book, but I thing it is not a bad book.
